The current cost ($17.99) is two dollars less than WM online and about 4 dollars less than at my local WM store. I have had this grinder for about 3 years now and have not had any trouble with this unit. It's not too big, it's not too loud and is very user friendly. I use this every time I make coffee. Since I can adjust the length of the electrical cord by storing some of it in the bottom of unit, I keep this plugged in and ready without the eye sore of a lot of extra cord.

This grinder is made of 3 parts; The lower body, the clear grinding bay, and the top lid. The front of the unit has a grind selector (fine, med, course) and a cup selector (4-12). While plugged in, both remain lit green. About 1/2 of the way up the grinding bay is the maximum fill line which for my taste will produce about 8 cups of brewed coffee. Personally, I have found that the grind and cup selector to be just added frill that is really not needed. With a full bay of beans, I leave my grind selector on fine and then depress the top of the lid to begin grinding. It's easy to judge the grind just by listening to the beans hit the blades and you can pulse grind if needed.

I have found that using the maximum amount of beans aid in producing a grind that is more consistent than with a smaller amount but has not been a major issue. The blades seem to spin too fast for a small amount but pulsing will help if needed. If you over-fill, there will be full beans as well as espresso fine. Once I have finished grinding, I remove both the lid and bay from the body and twist the lid several times back and forth which will scrape the bottom of the grinding bay clean. (The darker the roast, the less the chamber maid system will work due to the oils in the beans making the grind sticky). Otherwise, it's a pretty reliable method which keeps me from having to use a brush. There are more expensive units out there that could serve your purpose better if you plan on grinding something other than coffee beans. I'd recommend a stainless steel grinder for herbs, pepper corns etc. The plastic arms of the chamber maid system might be prone to trapping other flavors you might not want in your coffee.

Once you start grinding your own beans, you might find it nearly impossible to buy pre-ground coffee again. It's hard to beat that freshly ground taste and aroma. For the best tasting cup of coffee, use filtered water, good quality and fresh beans and grind only the amount you need at the time. Admittedly, an electric coffee grinder is not the best thing I like to hear in the morning but you'll get used to it and I've had a Kitchen Aid that was really loud by comparison. I will sometimes grind beans the night before and store in an air tight container but no longer than that. Either way, grinding beans is now a must. This grinder has lasted longer than a more expensive unit and if it ever breaks, I will be purchasing another without hesitation.

Cleaning Coffee Makers

Cleaning your coffee maker is necessary to keep your machine producing great tasting coffee. Each machine type will require a different cleaning method.

Drip Filter

The Drip Filter brewer is very easy to clean. Just follow these 6 simply steps:

1. Dissolve 1 oz of citric acid in 4 cups of hot water.

2. Add 4 cups of cold water to the solution and pour the solution into the water chamber.

3. Turn on your coffee maker (without the filter) and let about half of the water solution run through the machine.

4. Stop the machine and let it sit for 15 minutes.

5. Start it up again, and let the rest of the cleaning solution run through the machine.

6. Rinse everything out by running 8 cups of cold fresh water through your machine at least 4 times.

French Press or Plunger

The French Press brewer is a snap to clean. Simply remove the plunger and empty the spent coffee into a rubbish bin. Use soapy water to clean the plunger and the glass jug.
Make sure all parts are rinsed well (ensure no soapy residue remains). Then allow all the Components to air dry.

Espresso Machines

To clean an Espresso machine just follow these steps:

1. Remove the group handle from the espresso machine and empty the coffee puck into a rubbish bin. Rinse the group handle with warm water.

2. Pour your chosen cleaning solution into the filter basket in the group handle. With your espresso machine ready to brew, put the group handle in the espresso machine just like you were going to brew some coffee.

3. With a bowl under the group handle, start the machine and begin pulling the 'shots'.

4. Leave the machine on for about five seconds. Then stop for ten seconds, then on again for five seconds. Repeat this process another six times.

5. Now remove the group handle from the machine and rinse with warm water.

6. Turn your machine on without the group handle in. This will fully rinse the group itself.

7. Now using the brush for your espresso machine, clean any residue from under the brewing group. Once complete, turn it on to give the group head another rinse.

Moka Pots

To clean a Moka pot is easy to clean. Just dismantle the Moka pot and rinse in warm water. Do not put the Moka pot in the dishwasher as it will discolor the pot.

I bought this to replace a burr grinder (Melita MEM1B) that was messy and such a pain to clean I didn't use it. I've had other blade grinders and one other burr grinder in the past. I was never happy with the quality of grind or ease of cleaning. I bought this after reading the reviews. When set on fine it easily matches the quality of grind of the Melita MEM1B without the mess.

This is easy to use since I don't have to tilt the entire grinder to pour coffee into the filter, just the removable cup. I don't try to wipe all the grounds out after use. I just wash the cup when I do dishes. It's not much harder to clean than a glass. A quick wipe does it. Soapy water makes a big difference!

I don't think the Chamber Maid cleaning system helps that much with cleaning, other than knocking the ground coffee loose so you can pour it out. But I think the scrapers help produce a more even grind by acting as vanes to direct the coffee back into the spinning blade. In many ways this works as a miniature blender, except for coffee beans instead of ice.

The only change I'd make is a different cord storage system. I don't leave this plugged in all the time. I don't have enough outlets. It would be nice if there was an exposed groove for wrapping the cord instead of the hidden one. It would make it much easier to store the cord when not in use.

This is the best coffee grinder I've owned. The only thing easier is buying ground coffee or using the grinder at the store.

I have owned this grinder for several months an have found it to be a very good product. Several reviewers noted the "extremely short cord", I thought so too until the other day I decided to futz with it. Aha! I found that there is more cord VERY tightly wrapped around the interior of the base. Mystery solved!!I love flavored coffee so the fact that you can wash the grinder cup is FANTASTIC. The "cleaning system" does'nt scrape the bottom so I just use a pasrty brush to get all of the grounds out. The pour spout is not that great coffee tends to stick to the ridges on the inside of the pour spouts top, so again the trusty pastry brush to the rescue. It's noisy and scares the dog but most grinders are thats the nature of the beast. All in all this is a great little grinder,and for a clean freak like myself.... perfect.

For years I used a grinder that I always had to guess at how long to run it, and always made a big mess on my counter when trying to get all of the grounds out and into the coffee maker. I finally decided to give this one a try, and boy was it worth it!

Very conveneient, no longer have to guess, the grind stops automatically at the right time, provided that you set it correctly. The grind chamber comes off the machine quite nicely for pouring the grounds out and the top comes off the chamber for cleaning. The parts twist on and off very nicely, very well made. And cleaning is a breeze, with no more mess on my counter. All in all, a very good purchase for the price. And let's not forget to mention that the coffee tastes great.

I also want to remind everyone about something that other reviewers mentioned and I had forgotten: out of the box, the cord is really short, like only a few inches. The rest is tucked in under a ridge around the bottom and it is not obvious that it pulls out. Be sure to do this.

I bought one of these grinders two years ago, and it worked perfectly for exactly one year. After 12 months of gentle use, the plastic "chamber cleaning system" broke, causing bits of ground plastic to be mixed in with my ground coffee.

I figured it must have been a fluke, so I went out and bought another one. 10 months later, the exact same thing happened -- the chamber cleaning system broke into pieces, and those pieces were subsequently ground up with my coffee beans.

There's not much else I can say about this grinder that hasn't already been said in the other reviews. It's a good grinder for the first 10-12 months... but after that, you're on borrowed time. I won't be buying another one.

My old Mr. Coffee grinder stopped working after 5 good years of service. I used it mainly for spices. This one does the job very well, with the added bonus that it is easy to clean. Hope it lasts longer than the previous one. If you are looking for a spice grinder, I would recommend this one, because it is easy to clean, and the smell of one spice will not affect the others.

We purchased our Mr. Coffee grinder over three years ago, and have used it everyday to grind fresh beans for our daily espressos in household of four adults. This grinder surprised us, as we purchased it discounted at the local grocery outlet for just $5! It amazed us from the beginning and has continued to amaze us for the last three years. We especially like the setting buttons that allow us to change the size of the grounds depending on our tastes and the type of coffee we are using. As a few other reviewers expressed, it is a noisy machine, but nothing one can't become accustomed to, and our cats no longer scurry away at the sound. It produces about 8 scoops of grounds per grind, enough for four espressos.

We have also used it to grind spices, including peppercorns, parsley, basil and dried minced garlic. Cleaning is easy, and we have never tasted the spices in our coffee!

The Chamber Maid Cleaning System works well, scraping up every bit of grounds off the chamber, but is made of plastic. We are purchasing our second grinder after three years, because, and after 1,000 rotations, has finally broken. Not a big deal, and again, for the price, I will gladly purchase a new Mr. Coffee Grinder every three years!

Interestingly, enough this is not about skin color the question is if Obama is a Muslim and if he is he should state so and if not he should state that too. Additionally, in defense those who pose the question say that they re not bigots and claim that Obama does have to state that he is not a Muslim for the record; he absolutely does. If he doesn't he will lose votes and take Oprah down with him when his ratings fall.

Indeed, as a political analyst, I concur that he "must" explain this fully to the satisfaction of the American People, failure to do so will be doing a total disservice to his followers, black Americans and those who have sent his campaign money, as it will be wasted to no avail. Mr. Obama has to explain this whole issue to the American People.

In fact, I travel this nation extensively, and people everywhere I go are talking about this issue in coffee shops and yes, there are a few bigots out there that seem set on making sure Obama never gets the votes to become President, many Republicans want him to win the nomination too, because he is easily defeat-able they say. Me, well I just want the truth, you know, that's all I want.

Many regular people are asking the same questions, we should not let others call them bigots for asking a specific question they just want the answer, the American People deserve that answer. Maybe Barrack Obama should come clean and stop dodging the question and simple answer the question that the American People want to know and prove it. Otherwise, people feel mislead, truth is what people want right now.

I finally found a grinder that doesn't spray coffee all over my kitchen! I've used the traditional "bullet" grinders, burr grinders, and even manual grinders. They all left a certain amount of counter mess to clean after the beans were ground. I'm not a fan of "Mr. Coffee" brand products, but I decided to try this grinder after reading other favorable reviews. I was pleasantly surprised to discover it grinds very evenly for a blade grinder, and doesn't make a mess while doing it. The "chamber maid" feature is somewhat useful, but on the fine grind setting, a lot of coffee still sticks to the inside. I have to use a little brush to free the grounds. It's not "the perfect grinder" but it is a "clean" grinder and I'm very satisfied with the performance so far. Still, it is an inexpensive unit constructed predominently of plastic parts, as I'd expect from the "Mr. Coffee" brand. So, I don't know how durable it will be, and I just can't bring myself to give it more than four stars.
